DAY 1: SANTIAGO

Welcome to Santiago, the bustling capital of Chile. In the afternoon, head out on a guided tour of the city, seeing iconic landmarks such as the presidential palace, the Plaza de Armas main square, and the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art. Of course, you’ll want to take a moment at San Cristobal Hill to take in the panoramic view of the city and the omnipresent Andes on the horizon. Tonight, enjoy a welcome dinner and get your first taste of Chilean cuisine.

DAY 2: VALPARAISO

Next day, set out on a full-day excursion to Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage city surrounded by jaw-dropping views of the bay, beautiful German-style architecture, and the home of Pablo Neruda. On the way back, enjoy a stop in the Casablanca Valley for wine tasting at Casas del Bosque.

DAY 3: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA

Fly to Calama, your entryway to the Atacama Desert. Nearby is Valle de la Luna. Check-in, indulge in local restaurants and shopping or stroll through the ancient Incan streets at your own time. We will begin the tour departing from the center of San Pedro de Atacama toward the Salt Mountain Range in the Atacama Desert, the driest place on earth, heading for one of its most picturesque spots: the Valley of the Moon. The names alone give a clear idea of the landscape, where rock formations shaped by erosion, salt sheets, the Duna Mayor, and views that will make you feel like you’re on another planet reign. We will cross the valley, visiting its famous rock formations: the Tres Marías, the Canyon, and the Amphitheater. To conclude your day we will enjoy the sunset from the Lickanantay viewpoint, where you can see the desert changing colors, with large volcanoes on the horizon, offering a spectacle that will leave you speechless.

DAY 4: TATIO GEYSERS

In this incredible destination, we’ll explore one of the world’s most important geothermal fields, the Tatio Geysers, located at 4,200 meters above sea level. It’s the largest group of geysers in the Southern Hemisphere and the third largest in the world. Today we head early in the morning to one of the entrances to the Andean plateau, where we will go directly to one of the most important geothermal fields in the world, the “Tatio Geysers,” with 80 geysers with their steaming fumaroles, a unique spectacle. We will stay there for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. We will then enjoy a rich buffet breakfast before continuing our return journey, where we will delve into the hills and mountains of the Andes Mountains, contemplating important high-altitude ecosystems with rich biodiversity, such as the Machuca wetlands and Vados de Putana wetlands. We will then return to San Pedro de Atacama. Enjoy the rest of the day on your own.

Recommended: Warm clothing, comfortable shoes, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water.
Restrictions: Pregnant women, children under 6, and adults over 70 are not permitted (they may enter with a medical certificate). Temperatures are always below zero.

DAY 5: PIEDRAS ROJAS – ALTIPLANIC LAGOONS

After breakfast we will pick you up at your hotel in the morning to begin the journey outside the city. The tour to the Piedras Rojas viewpoint and the Altiplanic Lagoons will take us past important tourist sites in the Atacama Desert. To reach the Piedras Rojas viewpoint, we will have to drive our vehicle up to 4,200 meters above sea level, from where we will see these copper-colored rocks, as well as the surrounding lagoons and salt flats. Afterwards, we will travel to the Miscanti and Miñiques Altiplanic Lagoons, where our guide will explain the flora and fauna that inhabit the area. We will also make a stop at the Chaxa Lagoon, where you can see flamingos. We will also pass through Socaire and the Tropic of Capricorn, where we will make a brief stop to take photos. We’ll then return to San Pedro de Atacama to conclude the day.

DAY 6: HITO CAJON – OJO DE PERDIZ

Pick up from the Hito Cajón border and depart for the first attraction, Laguna Verde, a small iconic lagoon with a striking emerald-green color due to the microbacteria that compose it. It is the natural border between Bolivia and Chile. From there, you can see the Licancabur Volcano. Continue the tour with a visit to the Polques Hot Springs, a product of the region’s volcanic activity and rich in medicinal minerals. The next attraction is the unique Laguna Colorada, unique for its abundance of algae and plankton, which give it its color and are populated by flamingos, including the James flamingo, which was thought to be extinct. Picnic lunch en route. Continuing the journey, you will visit the Stone Tree, a natural sculpture sculpted by wind erosion over thousands of years. As the final attraction of the day, visit the Siloli Desert, one of the driest deserts in the world, characterized by rock formations amidst shifting dunes. It is the gateway to the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve, Bolivia’s most visited national park. Transfer to the rustic lodge.

DAY 7: OJO DE PERDIZ – UYUNI

Breakfast and departure to the Minor Lagoons or Andean Jewels, a group of lagoons characterized by their unique color, aroma, and chemical compounds, making them so unique within this biodiversity. Later, visit the Ollagüe Volcano Viewpoint to contemplate a dark and very distinctive rock from the volcano in a completely desert landscape. Picnic lunch en route. Continuing the route, you will reach the impressive Valley of the Rocks, stones over 8 meters high forming a natural sculpture in the middle of the imposing plateau. Then, visit the Authentic Villages of Lipez: San Cristóbal, renowned for being a mining center since colonial times; Culpina K, an iconic town for the cultivation of the golden grain of royal quinoa. The last visit of the day is the Train Cemetery, an abandoned 19th-century railway complex.

DAY 8: UYUNI SALT FLAT – UYUNI

Pickup from your hotel. Departure to the salt flats, heading to the town of Colchani, where you can observe the manual salt extraction process and local salt crafts. Visit the salt springs, interesting as they are the outlet points for the salt flat’s groundwater; the salt hexagons, geometric shapes on the surface of the salt flat, and piles of salt. We will cross the salt flat to enjoy the beautiful landscapes. Visit Incahuasi Island, located in the heart of the salt flat and the largest of a group of islands that represents an isolated ecosystem. The island is populated by a species of cactus that grows up to 12 meters tall, offering a breathtaking view of the area.

Picnic lunch at the salt flat. We continue our visit to the northern part of the salt flat, where we’ll visit the Coquesa Mummies, human archaeological remains in a small cave near the Tunupa Volcano from where you can admire the vastness of the salt flat. We’ll also visit the Chiquini Cave, a circular, humid cave with impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy the sunset.

DAY 9: UYUNI – LA PAZ

After breakfast, fly to La Paz, check-in, rest and enjoy the surroundings. 2:00 Pm City Tour. Visit Colonial Jaén Street, one of the best-preserved colonial streets, where you’ll visit museums such as the Precious Metals Museum and the Murillo Museum. The tour continues to Plaza Murillo, home to the Cathedral, the Government Palace, and the National Congress. Afterward, a stroll through the Witches’ Market offers a fascinating window into the secret world of Andean mysticism. A must-do in La Paz is a cable car ride for fantastic views. To conclude the tour, visit the spectacular Moon Valley, which features strange geological formations.

DAY 10: LA PAZ – LAKE TITICACA – ISLA DEL SOL – INTI WATA COMPLEX

Early morning transfer from La Paz to the Copacabana Sanctuary. Afterwards, board a catamaran cruise to sail to Isla del Sol, the birthplace of the Inca Empire. On this legendary island, visit the Garden, the Stairs, and the Inca Fountain. The guided itinerary continues with a visit to the Inti Wata Cultural Complex, Bolivia’s main private tourist attraction, accessible only to tourists visiting Isla del Sol aboard catamarans. This attraction includes the Ekako Underground Museum, the Traditional Medicine and Totora Raft Building Centers, a craft center, the Intica refuge, a Botanical Garden of Inca agriculture and a variety of Andean camelids. Lunch and overnight stay on Isla del Sol.

DAY 11: ISLA DEL SOL – COPACABANA – PUNO

Return to the catamaran for lunch on board en route to the Copacabana Sanctuary. Guided tour of Bolivia’s main sanctuary and pilgrimage center, including the Basilica where the Morena Virgin of Copacabana, patron saint of Bolivians, is located. Finally, transfer to the city of Puno, crossing the Kasani border between Peru and Bolivia.

Shared ground transportation exclusively for catamaran passengers with hotel-to-hotel service.

DAY 12: LAKE TITICACA / UROS & TAQUILE VISIT

We start picking you up from 7:10 a.m. to 7:25 a.m. from your respective hotels (city center), bus station or Plaza de Armas for transfer to the port of Puno where we will board a speedboat that will take us first to the floating island of the Uros with a visit of 1h 30m approx. where we will appreciate their way of life and the demonstration of the construction of their Islands and have free time to explore, take photos and take a short ride on the typical raft of the island. Later we continue our trip to the Island of Taquile, where the inhabitants still keep their culture alive, this island has a population of approx. of 2,000 Quechua and Spanish-speaking inhabitants, families still practice “AYNI” which means reciprocity “TODAY FOR ME TOMORROW FOR YOU” developing community work, the help is mutual between families. Their main activity is agriculture; they cultivate potato, quinoa, oca, etc. and they are also experts in the art of weaving thanks to the fabric that they make. UNESCO has declared them as cultural and intangible heritage of humanity, one of its emblematic fabrics is the “Chumpi” CALENDAR GIRDLE in which they represent their main activities and local festivals. The inhabitants have directly participated in improving tourist activities within the island without losing ancestral customs. Near the square we will have lunch at a local restaurant based on fresh fish (trout) or vegetable omelet, then we will descend to the port to board our boat that will take us back to Puno.

DAY 13: JULIACA / LIMA

Your morning is at leisure to explore the area on your own. Later, at the agreed time, they will pick you up to take you to the airport for your flight to Lima, where you connect with your flight home.
