Day 1: LLANGANUCO: CALLEJÓN DE HUAYLAS (CARHUAZ, YUNGAY, CARAZ) – CHINANCOCHA LAGOON (LLANGANUCO)
06:00 Arrival and transfer to the hotel. 09:00 Meeting. 09:30 Start of guided tour: Virgen María Auxiliadora viewpoint: ideal stop to view the snow-capped peaks Huandoy, Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Hualcan, Copa. CARHUAZ “Borrachera”: main square, Virgin de las Mercedes Church (declared “Cultural Heritage of the Nation”) and from its towers you can admire the Cordillera Blanca. Tasting of natural fruit ice cream. TINGUA: from the highway we will see the Guitarrero Cave, “Cradle of the Oldest Horticulturist in the Americas.” YUNGAY “Hermosura”: the old city of Yungay, buried with more than 20,000 inhabitants on May 31, 1970. Monumental Christ the Redeemer: sculpted in 1960. Chinancocha Lagoon (Llanganuco): beautiful turquoise-emerald colored lagoon, 1,450 m long, 393 m wide and 28 m deep. Enjoy a pleasant interpretive walk full of natural biodiversity (flora and fauna), observing the snow-capped Huascarán, Huandoy and Yanapaccha peaks. Optional boat ride on the beautiful waters of Chinancocha Lagoon. 14:00 Lunch in the town of Humacchuco. Caraz “Dulzura”: main square, cathedral, and tasting of typical delicious manjar blanco. TARICA “Pottery Town,” where you will find beautiful clay and plaster souvenirs from the Huaylas area. 19:00 Overnight in Huaraz.
Day 2: HIKE TO WILCACOCHA LAGOON
08:45 Meeting. 09:00 Start of the hike to a small lagoon located in the Cordillera Negra (area characterized by lack of water) at 3,745 m, with dark green waters. An exceptional viewpoint of the snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Blanca: Huandoy, Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Hualcan, Copa, Vallunaraju, Ocshapalca, Ranrapalca, Palcaraju, Churup, Chinchey, San Juan, Huamashraju, Tumarinashraju, Huantzan “Peruvian K2”, Cashan, Shaqsha, Pucaraju, Muruaraju, Caullaraju, etc. It is ideal for acclimatization, as the trail is rocky with easy to moderate difficulty. The hike passes through the small town of Santa Cruz and after a 2.5-hour ascent we reach Wilcacocha, from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Cordillera Blanca. It is best done in the morning for clear skies. 14:00 Return to Huaraz, free afternoon. Overnight in Huaraz.
Day 3: PASTORURI – PATOCOCHA LAGOON – GAS SPRINGS OF PUMAPAMPA – PUYA RAIMONDI FOREST – HUARAPASCA VIEWPOINT – PASTORURI GLACIER (5,000M)
09:00 Meeting. 09:30 Start of guided tour to Patococha Lagoon (4,125 m): beautiful reddish-colored lagoon due to algae population. Gas Springs of Pumapampa “the fountain of youth”: natural carbonated mineral springs. From this point, you can view Mururaju peak. Largest Puya Raimondi forest in the country (Huascarán Park – Carpa sector). The Puya Raimondi is the world’s largest flowering plant (12 m tall, 8-12 thousand flowers in one bloom, over 6 million seeds, lives up to 100 years). Huarapasca viewpoint: splendid panoramic views of the peaks Santón, Tuco, Raria, Huarapasca and Pastoruri, plus the beautiful Pumapampa gorge. Pastoruri Glacier: Famous glacier at over 5,000 m, 40-minute hike to its base where you can enjoy contact with snow and ice, while witnessing first-hand the effects of global warming. Lunch, free afternoon, return to hotel and overnight in Huaraz.
Day 4: HIKE TO LAGUNA 69 (CLASSIC ROUTE)
05:40 Meeting. 06:00 One of the most beautiful full-day hikes in the Cordillera Blanca. The route is of easy to moderate difficulty with a 750 m elevation gain. The lagoon is enigmatic and special, displaying various shades of blue under the sunlight. Private transport to Cebollapampa (3,900 m), starting point of the hike. Along the way, we’ll see beautiful waterfalls and views of the Pisco and Chacraraju peaks, adding beauty to the trail. Return to hotel, free afternoon. Overnight in Huaraz.
Day 5: CANYONING + BUNGEE JUMPING
09:00 Meeting. 09:15 Transfer to Arzobispo Canyon. 09:45 Start: This adventure sport is practiced in Arzobispo Canyon where various water flows descend at different heights. Arzobispo features three waterfalls: 15 m (instruction wall), 20 m (cascade), and 25 m (waterfall). Each rappel offers a new adrenaline experience. 11:30 Transfer to Pariac Bridge. 12:00 Jump time at Pariac Bridge: Bungee jumping with dynamic ropes, offering an intense adrenaline rush. Standing at the edge and launching into the void with only ropes and harnesses creates an incredible sensation. Though seemingly dangerous, this activity is extremely safe and a great way to relieve stress. 15:00 Return to Huaraz and transfer to bus terminal for return to Lima.
