DAY 1: CITY TOUR + MONASTERY + JUANITA MUSEUM “ANDEAN SANCTUARIES” Pick up from the airport and transfer to your hotel. Later, pick up from the hotel and transfer to Carmen Alto viewpoint to observe part of the traditional Arequipeña countryside with its beautiful well-preserved terraces, stone walls, and ancient paths along the Chili River that divides Arequipa into two parts. Next, we head to Yanahuara viewpoint, where the arches and historic area feature narrow cobbled streets and old ashlar stone houses (volcanic stone) with typical gardens. We then drive to the historic city center to visit the iconic Cathedral, which has withstood several earthquakes, followed by a visit to the Andean Sanctuaries Museum. This museum houses “Juanita, the ice girl,” discovered on Mount Ampato, displayed with her burial offerings. Afterward, we visit the Santa Catalina Monastery, made with two types of ashlar stone: white (from Chachani Volcano) and pink (from Misti Volcano), the latter being a symbol of the city. The monastery covers 20,000 square meters and remains completely isolated from the city, despite being in its heart. A small city within another, the 4-meter-high walls once enclosed the lives of the women who inhabited the monastery. At the end of the tour, return to the hotel. Overnight in Arequipa.
DAY 2: COLCA CANYON TOUR 2D/1N (Breakfast included) First day: Pick up from the hotel and departure from Arequipa (2325 m.a.s.l.). We take the paved road to Yura, crossing Pampa de Arrieros and Pampa Cañahuas, where we can observe vicuñas, llamas, alpacas, and migratory birds. We then arrive at Patahuasi (stone forest) and enjoy a coca tea to help acclimate to the altitude. Continuing the journey, we pass through Tocjras, lagoons, and wetlands while observing migratory birds such as flamingos and coots. We reach the highest point of the trip, Patapampa (4910 m.a.s.l.), known as “The Volcanoes Viewpoint,” from where you can see the volcanoes: Hualca Hualca, Sabancaya, Ampato, Misti, Chachani, Pichu Picchu, Ubinas, and the extinct Chucura. We then descend to the town of Chivay (3600 m.a.s.l.). Overnight in Colca.
DAY 3: COLCA CANYON TOUR 2ND DAY Second day: Cruz del Condor In the morning, breakfast at the hotel and then departure to Cruz del Condor, where we stay for about 2 hours. From here, you can admire the Colca Canyon and watch the Andean condors flying close by. On the way back, we will stop to take photos in small villages of the Colca Valley, view archaeological remains, pre-Inca agricultural terraces, stone models, hanging tombs, and other panoramic views of the canyon. We pass through the towns of Pinchollo, Maca (where you can try the delicious Colca Sour, made from the local cactus fruit “Sancallo”), Achoma, and Yanque. In Yanque, we will stop to see the typical church, craft center, and the traditional clothing of the locals. Arrival in Chivay and departure for Arequipa. Arrival in Arequipa around 17:00. Overnight in Arequipa.
DAY 4: AREQUIPA – RETURN TO LIMA Breakfast at the hotel. Free afternoon to stroll around the main square. At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport to take your return flight to Lima.
